長毛兔群居性差，一般是采用籠養(yǎng)，2月齡以上的長毛兔不論同性或是異性，群養(yǎng)時經常發(fā)生爭咬，所以要實現一個籠一個兔。兔籠的形式分活動式和固定式兩種。活動式的兔籠可以作為運輸使用，一般長是60厘米、寬是55厘米、高是45厘米，分為三格。固定式的兔籠一般長是60～70厘米，寬是50～60厘米，前面籠高是40厘米，后面籠高是34厘米。

兔舍以2～3層更好，兔籠的底部要距離地面30厘米以上。兔籠的底板更好是鋪設竹片，竹片寬是2.5厘米，兩片之間的距離是1厘米。這樣設置的話，既可以使兔糞落下來，又不夾兔腳。我還要補充一點，幼兔的時候可以一籠多養(yǎng)，但是在2月齡以后，公母兔應該單籠飼養(yǎng)。
